A Day At The Met

Hello everyone! This post is pretty special because.... it's my first blog post ever!

I had a difficult time deciding what to make my first post, but I finally came to the conclusion of sharing, with anyone who might be reading this, one of my favorite places on Earth.

What is this place you might ask? New York City. My literal obsession. My future home. The place that I thankfully am able to visit a couple times a year.

This past weekend, I went for a day trip to NYC with my family. We visited the Met Museum to catch one of the coolest exhibits I've been to on the last day it was open.

Usually, I find the Met sort of boring. We always look at the same european paintings every time, which after a while makes me want to take a nap on the nearby benches. So this time, I wanted to spice it up.

We went to the Charles James: Beyond Fashion exhibit. (It's closed now, but you can read about it in the link). But let me say, it was the only exhibit that I have been to where I was interested the whole time. On display were dresses created by the one and only Charles James, and they were drop dead gorgeous.

How beautiful is this emerald green dress? This one was one of my favorites. (Side note: it was a pretty large room, yet it was packed with people. Not such a great idea to go on the last day the exhibit was open, right?)

Look at the detail on these two! I love the ruching - it's a very flattering touch.

I did not have time to read the description of this dress (there was a crowd of people huddled around it), but I'd love to know how that floral design crawling up the side of the dress was made.

...And last but not least, my favorite dress of them all. The ruby red color, the gathering of the fabric, the way it poofs out at the bottom... I just can't stop looking at it. Wouldn't it be fun to try on any of these dresses?

Next, we went to the Japanese area in the museum which I have never been to.

We found this wall of Japanese letters which I think looks so cool!

We also found this deer that was encased in glass with glass "bubbles" on top. I was amazed that there was a real deer on the inside, and the way the glass captured the light was mesmerizing.

Overall, this was the most interesting visit I've had to any museum ever, and I'm pleased to share these things with you guys!

P.S. Thanks to the College Prepster for recommending the Charles James exhibit!
